EL Inverters and Electroluminescent Technology
The SOTERIA range of inverters provides active monitoring of connected EL panels. If a fault is detected such as a damaged panel or wiring, the inverter immediately switches off preventing electrical shock to workers or fire risk.
EFL Tech Electroluminescent panels are manufactured to withstand extensive thermal & physical extremes but as reality goes, accidents do happen in the workplace. With this in mind our engineers decided to explore advanced inverter technology design that actively monitors both inverter & EL panel conditions and in the event of abnormal operation will cut supply in milliseconds.
This technology delivers world 1st safety standards enabling EL lighting to be used in heavy traffic & high-risk environments.
Motion Activated Lighting
Smart technology that activates EL lighting only when motion is detected. This saves lighting costs, reduces unnecessary light noise to the environment & extends the operating lifetime of the product. EFL Tech smart strip lighting is available in sizes up to 2m in length, this gives the ability for a lighting path to follow the person as they walk along, illuminating a pair of 2m strips ahead with the pair at their side. These strips can be configured to instantly light up or softly fade in to give a more linear feel as each segment illuminates.
These EFL Tech Smart Strip Lighting is also available in continuous lengths enabling long runs for installations on pipelines & other long distance applications.
EFL Tech Electroluminescent panels compared to other Lighting Technology
Conventional lighting from sources such as High Pressure Sodium (HPS), Incandescent, LED ect are a “point source” light that invasively emits from a fixed point.
-
This form has many downsides such as:
-
Large percentage of light travelling from the site
-
Low visibility in fog or dusty conditions
-
Temporary Flash Blindness from looking directly at the source
-
Dappled lighting from LEDs used in path lighting
-
Casts shadows
EFL Tech Electroluminescent panels are not point source, they provide a soft diffused light output that shows none of the above issues. Features that separate EL from other forms include:
-
Very low power consumption
-
Low operating temperature – EL is a cold lighting source and does not generate heat due to its electronic luminous emission
-
Reliability – EL does not catastrophically fail as it consists of millions of microscopic crystals.
-
Paper thin- Typically between 0.25mm – 0.5mm
-
Landfill friendly – EL does not use any hazardous materials
Electroluminescent lighting has been used in architectural lighting & has proven its reliability over time. Uses of have included:
-
Elevator Illumination
-
Stairwell emergency backup light
-
Pathway / egress
-
Table top / furniture
